Celebrating the Autumnal Equinox with music, vendors, classes, and an open ritual!

Jacksonville (Florida) Pagan Pride Day 2008 will be held in Riverside Park in 5 Points on September 20, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please join us for a day of ritual, workshops, entertainment and shopping!
"Admission price" is a donation of non-perishable food items for our Harvest Food Drive to benefit the Arlington Community Center.
At the end of the event, the community is invited to join in the open Harvest Ritual.
Workshops for all ages will be held at designated locations throughout the park. A map and schedule will be in the program. Look for the main gate to get a program and drop off your donations. We will have a children's area with workshops throughout the day.
We will have a door prize drawing for the many wonderful items that our vendors donate. You will receive one door prize ticket per donated item. Another way to obtain door prize tickets is to volunteer! All volunteers will get door prize tickets based on the time they offer. Teenagers - this is a valid community service hours opportunity. Also, check our website for membership information - membership gives you door prize tickets and priority seating at workshops and concerts.
We still have room for vendors and are always looking for new workshops to offer. Please contact us if you would like a volunteer sign up form or a vendor application.
While we will not have food vendors this year, we are located in the heart of 5 Points which is full of wonderful and affordable places to eat. Or just pack up a picnic basket from home with your own favorites! Please bring your lunch to the park, along with a blanket and picnic with us!
PLEASE READ - Please use the following areas when parking to attend Pagan Pride Day:
* Curbside parking at Riverside Park on Park and Post streets. Be aware of where the parking areas start and end.
* The parking lot at Riverside Park at the utilities building at College and Margaret.
* Oak Street from Park to Margaret has curbside parking on both sides of the street. Notice any time restrictions or no parking areas. DO NOT park in residential areas of Riverside!
* Park Street, both sides.
* Margaret Street, both sides.
Notes: Each of these areas has Disabled Parking spaces. If you cannot find adequate disabled parking, let our staff know at the Welcome Booth and we will help you. Call 307-5889.

Please come and celebrate with us! Ritual will be at 11:00 a.m. with a potluck brunch following. Bring simple breakfast foods/drinks to share, such as donuts, coffee cake, fruit, orange juice, etc. Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on too.
The whole family is welcome, so bring the kids and friends too, but only pets on leashes are allowed in the park.

We are looking at Sunday, February 1st as the date, at 10:30 a.m. We will meet in the same place, Tillie Fowler Park across from the Navy base on US17/Roosevelt.
This is a lengthy email, but read all the way to the bottom because there is a list of what you need to remember for this special day!
Imbolc is a Fire festival and a great time to begin saying goodbye to Winter. We began thinking of the things we wanted to leave in the old year and the things we want to create for the new year at Yule, so at this ritual, we will burn the greens from Yule as a symbol of letting ALL the negativity go. And then we will plant spring seeds to symbolize the growth of good in our future.
At any of our rituals, you are welcome to bring an item for the altar. If you have a special Sabbat item that you want to share during ritual or if you have an item that you need charged during ritual, the altar is open to all.
Often, Brigid is celebrated at Imbolc and there is MUCH use of candles. So, we will have Brigid's Bed and ONE lucky person will get to take it home with them until Ostara!! (You have to come to see how that will work!) We would like for this item to be JPPA property - something we have on hand to use over and over again, so we would love for everyone to bring something to add to her bed. This can be a scrap of pretty material, some ribbon, silk flowers, silk ivy/greenery, miniature candles, beads, etc... We are creating a Crown of Candles that will be JPPA property to be used when we need it.
As always, we will have a potluck and are looking for white and/or dairy items to take center stage. We already know that there will be a Tres Leche Cake!
For our activity, we will make candles - and again, this is for kids and adults!
Don't forget the card game table for the kids (and adults) who are interested! (We've noticed a new "tradition" starting at our gatherings - Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, and Magic The Gathering Games! Some of our kids never leave home without a deck in their pocket and it's starting to spread. After helping out the adults, the young men & ladies have been sitting together, playing and chatting. We're going to keep encouraging this - so if your kids are interested, remind them to bring a deck when they come. It's a fun diversion for those who may not be too interested in adult chit-chat and a great ice-breaker in making friends.)

d. Be ready to win the honor of taking Brigid's Bed home with you until Ostara
e. Have an idea for the candle making activity
f. Bring a dish for the potluck. If you can find something that includes dairy or a dish that is white in color, that's great. If not, bring your favorite dish to share!
g. Bring your or your kids' cards for the card game table
h. Check email on January 31 for a suggested activity to do the night before our ritual.

Reiki II Workshop

Reiki Master Spring Rayne will discuss the many uses of Reiki, the 2nd degree symbols, scanning, and includes a hands-on healing session, as well as the 2nd degree attunement. This is for students that already have the 1st Reiki attunement. If you are not a student of Sensei Spring Rayne, you may still attend, you just need to bring you lineage.

Reiki I Workshop

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stree reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words- "Rei" which mean "God's wisdom or the Higher power" and "Ki" which means "Life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki Master Spring Rayne will teach all the history and fundamentals behind Metta Reiki, which is Usui Shiki Ryoho, the traditional Japanese Method. You will also be attuned to Reiki I. Please bring: pen, notebook, water, and snacks if you want them. This will be a 4 hour workshop.
